Cities Are The Breeding Ground For Creative Cloud Technology

People that live in big cities often describe themselves as being ‘fast-paced’ and ‘ever-evolving’. In several recent surveys, city dwellers have also shown to be more creative, productive Cloud technologyand happier in their lives. And, when it comes to development of technologies, it tends to be creative when created by those living and working within big cities.

According to the Editor of CityMetric, John Elledge, ‘London works because of its agglomeration effect – if you put that many people in that small a space, with a bunch of finance, it will a) generate loads of ideas and b) people will be able to fund them’. This is often the reason why cities like London, a world leader in technology innovation, feels like a world class leader. They are constantly evolving and innovating.

Cities also tend to have much larger cosmopolitan populations and thus are able to pull in from much larger pools of talent. In order to stay both innovative and competitive, technology firms and their evolving technology develop far more in places where there is a larger scope for innovation and creativity. Consider the following analogy. Fashion is a forever changing industry and in a fast paced environment, it is all about keeping up with the trends. So in big cities, trend adoption is taken up on a quicker rate. Some of those trends will stick and others will not. But it enables creativity to flourish. The same applies to technology. With competition for jobs being so high in densely populated cities, candidates have to be able to show themselves as technologically innovative in order to take part in this IT revolution. And lets face it, any company that rates itself wants to be using the latest technology.

A recent article in ES Magazine stated that Londoners are ‘by far the most productive workers in the country.’ The presence of cloud technology, provides the ability for various people to access and work on the same project simultaneously. This same productivity also enables evolving technology firms to expand at a more exponential rate. This also means that, as stated by John Elledge above, the bigger these technology firms get, the more creative technologies they’ll be able to dream up and eventually fund. Technology innovation depends on those two aspects, the range of ideas and the depth of wallets. Whilst it is not always true, firms in less populated areas sometimes are at a disadvantage.  They will always have trouble coming up with the same number of creative ideas as those based in more populated areas due to both the reduced number of people with ideas and the amount of money needed to fund them.

Cities seem set to remain the driving force behind innovative and creative technologies. Rarely anywhere else are the right conditions found in order to create the pioneering centres of the technology industry. With greater resources to assist in advancing ever-changing technologies, big cities truly are the breeding grounds of creative technology.
