Lead Engineer

We are working with a key software client to recruit a Lead Engineer for a permanent position based in the North West of England.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced full stack engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working closely with business stakeholders and helping an engineering team deliver high-quality software.

You will be comfortable working independently, while also providing technical leadership, guidance and support to the wider engineering team. Alongside your technical skills, you will have a commercial outlook and understand how technology can support business growth and customer needs.

As the Lead Engineer you will:

-Lead and support the engineering team across a range of software development projects.

-Design, develop and maintain high-quality full stack applications.

-Provide technical direction and help set appropriate engineering standards.

-Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.

-Translate business needs into clear technical plans.

-Make informed decisions about technology, architecture and development approaches.

-Take ownership of your work and deliver projects with limited supervision.

-Support code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing within the team.

-Help identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and business performance.

-Use modern AI development tools, including Claude Code, to improve productivity and support software delivery.

You will have the following skills:

-Experience working as a senior engineer, technical lead or lead developer.

-The ability to work independently and take ownership of technical decisions.

-Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with business stakeholders.

-Experience leading, supporting or mentoring other engineers.

-A commercial mindset and an understanding of how technology supports business objectives.

-A practical approach to problem-solving and software delivery.

-An interest in using AI tools such as Claude Code within the development process.

You will have strong full stack development experience and be confident working across a range of technologies, including:

-Java.

-JavaScript.

-React.

-C#.

-Angular.

-Salesforce.
