With the World Economic Forum predicting that industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution, is just around the corner – what does this mean for those of you looking to secure the most in-demand market automation roles this year?
What employers in the tech space are looking for is changing constantly. No-one could have predicted the scale of the growth of Salesforce, CRM and market automation products and services: Stuart Templeton, former Regional Vice President, said of Salesforce’s growth, ‘we’re hiring employees at numbers that I can’t count’.
So, there are plenty of opportunities to expand your career with Salesforce, but what precisely are market automation employers looking for this year?
1. Self-Taught Talent
The Salesforce ecosystem contains a vast amount of information for those wishing to hone their Salesforce and market automation skills.
In this sphere, it is commonly accepted by employers that self-taught talent is just as valuable to their business as those with ‘traditional’ education, such as a degree. In a recent Salesforce salary survey, 63% of respondents stated that having a degree was ‘not important’ when working for Salesforce.
In Salesforce specifically, certifications are your key to success, with the Technical Architect, Systems Architect and Applications Architect badges in highest-demand. More generally, employers are on the lookout for self-taught problem-solvers who don’t see problems; they see challenges.
2. An Ambitious Developer
While it is undeniable that market automation employers require talent, what they need is the right talent with the right skills. For example, there are currently four times as many Salesforce developer positions as there are Salesforce developers.
If you want to work your way up the ranks quickly, find out what Salesforce skills are in much-needed supply in the area you plan to target; your recruiter will be able to help you with this.
Ambitious developers who want to get into market automation this year can expect to be swamped by options.
3. Einstein Experience
Salesforce’s product, Einstein Analytics, is fast becoming one of the market automation platforms most in-demand services.
Einstein’s ability to manage and deliver predictions on unprecedented amounts of data means that it is popular with Salesforce’s biggest and most well-known customers. Of companies that don’t currently use Einstein Analytics, 32% think that they will begin using it in the future.
If you haven’t already, now is the time to start exploring and working your way through the Einstein certifications.
4. 360 Perspective
This idea is Salesforce-centric, and it is a new perspective that the company has rolled out on its website recently.
Having a 360 perspective is what market automation is all about – it’s the idea of putting the customer at the heart of everything you do. AI and improving technologies are making it easier than ever for CRM and market automation services to predict what the customer wants- delivering a highly tailored experience.
Market automation and Salesforce employees and candidates who embody the 360 perspective ethos will be in demand in 2020.
5. A Flexible Mindset
Finally, while it is not a new concept to instil a positive mindset in your business in the hope of success, Salesforce has gone one further. They suggest that the key to market automation success is not only in renovating and optimising existing businesses systems, but it is in transcending this and creating value for the customer in new ways, to sense and respond to their needs before they even reach out.
To impress market automation employers this year, be sure that you can demonstrate a flexible mindset when it comes to not just meeting, but exceeding customer’s needs.
Finally
If you are planning a move in your marketing automation career, now is the time to go for it. The CRM sector, and Salesforce, in particular, are enjoying enormous growth, and for those with the right skills and mindset, there are plenty of fantastic opportunities out there.
