App Review – Air Sharing

Up until recently, it has not been easy to use the iPad or iPhone as a storage device for anything other than media files. So this month we take a look at productivity app, Air Sharing, which is downloadable from iTunes.

airsharingAir Sharing turns your iDevice into a networked drive that can wirelessly transfer files to and from your computers. So, if you are part of the mobile workforce, as an iOS user, you can now mount remote file servers, such as Google Docs, Dropbox and FilesAnywhere.

Documents are then viewed using the scroll bar, which is great for large documents; view high-resolution images and slideshows, perform PDF searches and bookmark. However, be warned there are some limitations to Office file viewing and there are no file-editing features.

Whilst in some cases the set-up can be slightly tricky, the benefits far outweigh the hassle. As dragging and dropping files, makes file sharing on the go a painless process. Thankfully there is an extensive help menu at your fingertips, so any teething problems should be quickly dealt with.

Priced at $8.99, this is not a cheap app by any means, but its capabilities certainly make it worth the outlay.
